Hurtworld v2 review1/31/2024 Most wireless headsets are usually only compatible with the PS5 and PC, so a 3.5mm aux port helps bridge the gap and makes it an all-purpose device. As a multi-console user, I find this quite irritating, especially for any headset that costs $200 and upwards. I suppose Razer thought the inclusion of Bluetooth would eliminate the need for a normal headphone jack - and it’s a sound argument since many of us have gone completely wireless for our entertainment needs - but this also means that the headset is no longer compatible with the Xbox console. What is, unfortunately, missing is the 3.5mm aux port that the old BlackShark V2 Pro has. First of all, the microUSB charging port has been thankfully replaced with USB-C, and the charging port isn’t fashionably recessed like some other products I have used, so you can actually use any compatible cable to charge the headset. I am not sure if I have still warmed up to this is somewhat odd design (the volume knob looks like a nipple to me - it is what it is, man) but at least it doesn’t have any garish ‘gamer’ color scheme and the subdued black color actually looks quite nice (the headset also comes in a white colorway).īut there are some distinct changes made to the overall package, for better or worse (mostly for the better). So, you still have the same helicopter-pilot-headset design with a large volume knob protruding from the left earcup. Razer has clearly gone with the ‘if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’ approach here, and it is possibly why the headset still has the ‘V2 Pro’ moniker because it is not a radically different design that the previous one. The BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) doesn’t look all that different from the previous model - in fact, place them side by side and you will barely be able to notice any difference whatsoever. However, whether or not it is worth it for those that already have the original BlackShark V2 Pro will depend entirely on the user, considering the price tag is still around $200. It is easily Razer’s most feature-complete headset they have ever built (unless you are an Xbox gamer), and the new additions really improves an already good headset. ![]() In my nearly two weeks of use, I have come away impressed with the new BlackShark V2 Pro.
